Opera Theatre
Established in 1997, GVSU Opera Theatre has provided students an opportunity to work with multiple stage and music directors from the world of professional opera and theatre. In 2014, the season expanded to include two productions per academic year featuring classically based operatic works as well as traditional and new music theatre. In 2024, the music and theatre areas collaborated to establish two new faculty positions including Stage Director and Music Director of Opera Theatre. The program has continued to meet the needs of our students through a Fall Opera Scenes program and a Winter MainStage Musical as well as an audition workshop and guest artist masterclasses.
